Fancy standards

The NGSS standards… and us

Honestly? We sorta hate the official Next Generation Science Standards.

Their goal is wonderful: to identify the most important knowledge so as to help teachers convey science to students.

Their reality is… less wonderful. Too often, standards come across like bureaucracy. They feel soulless — if you don’t believe us, try to read them! They seem to suck the life out of science’s heart.

We don’t just teach a different way — not lectures, but fast-paced, interactive riddles — we also build our six-year curriculum on a different set of standards.

But we bit the bullet, and figured out how our six years of topics align with the Next Generation Science Standards “Disciplinary Core Ideas”.

Their core ideas, our topics

Q: Why should I care about these?

We don’t think you should! But if you need a course that matches up with the highest standards, yeah, we do that. We meet all of the NGSS Disciplinary Core Ideas each year.

We’re building something that, at present, barely exists — a cumulative science curriculum.
